The Reality We Face
The gap is real. The time to act is now.
South Africa's communities are not poor — they are disempowered and excluded from systems of economic value. Our people are not unemployed — they are an under-utilised economic resource. SEDO exists to change that.
33%
Unemployment Rate
Millions capable, willing, and excluded from meaningful economic participation.
75%
SMME Failure Rate
Small businesses in Black communities collapse within 2 years due to isolation and lack of support.
30yr
Unfulfilled Promise
Post-1994 economic emancipation has not reached the majority of South Africans.
"We Nation South Africa is not just an organization — it is a call to unity and a platform for collective responsibility."
Mr SP Moraka · Founder & Chairman, We Nation South Africa
What Is SEDO?
Community-led. Accountable. Built to last.
Socio-Economic Development Organizations (SEDO) are registered Not-for-Profit organisations, embedded within communities, and anchored by We Nation South Africa. They are not charity — they are economic infrastructure.
Each SEDO structure drives business formation, value-chain development, skills growth, and social cohesion — building a self-sustaining local economy that connects to the broader South African and global market.
Business Formation
Pioneer local enterprises and connect them to value chains.
Social Cohesion
Champion community development projects that improve well-being.
Eco-Systems
Build sustainable economic collaborations across sectors.
Human Capital
Lead skills development and inclusive growth in your area.
The Foundation
4 Pillars of the SEDO Programme
Every SEDO structure is built on four interlocking pillars. Each addresses a root cause of economic exclusion in South Africa.
01
Land
Unlocking socio-economically viable land for community-based enterprises, especially in urban and peri-urban areas.
02
Human Capital
Skills development, mentorship, and workforce activation — turning potential into productive economic participation.
03
Infrastructure
Building physical, digital and logistics infrastructure that supports SMMEs and enables business growth.
04
System
Opening procurement systems and creating alternative economic environments where emerging businesses thrive.
